Toto's Take: TMS resource list
Hi there,
For those interested, I created a TMS resource list of favorite books and people in the space. I don’t want to inundate as there are so many options, so I have selected what was most impactful for my journey at the beginning. I will update this list as I go, and add a second tier, a phase 2 of resources as well. Thanks and please share with anyone you think needs this as well!
To start out, check out….
Books
The Mind Body Prescription - Dr Sarno
The Way Out - Alan Gordon
The Great Pain Deception - Steve Ozanitch
Back in Control - David Hanscom
Accompanying books - Anger by Thich Hanh
Apps
Curable App is the best place to start for information on pain neuroscience and TMS. Simply download and start using. They have teachings, exsercises, mediations, and podcasts. However, if you want to go further, they also have a 12 week bootcamp program. I wrote a review on it here as there are very few reviews online for some reason.
People
Dani Fagan Yoga for TMS is really great for incorporating breath work and a little movement, and she incorporates TMS, and learnings about the vagus system, and generally how to calm the body via movement. Any beginner can do this, and any pain level, she welcomes all.
Nichole Sachs for expressive journaling, a great practice she discusses in detail. She is well known for her podcast with healing stories.
Dan Buglio has daily youtube videos that are super great. Many people listen to them everyday. He healed himself after 13 years of back pain. The videos are free, but he also has a private facebook group which is great, very supportive and if you pay for that you can also join his weekly coaching calls. Again, this is a really supportive group if you are looking for it and worth the cost for $100 per month (you can always cancel).
Additional resources
Tara Brach - great for meditations and lectures, she also has a podcast you can tune into.
Kristen Neff - on self-compassion, an important part of getting out of this pain journey, which I only discovered later in my journey. I listened to her audio book and then started doing some of the meditations, but you can go very deep here.
